At the December 2024 Board of Directors meeting, the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation (WWHF) welcomed Julie Whitehorse as a new board member. Julie’s longstanding connection to WWHF and her contributions to its success make her an invaluable addition to the board.

A Legacy of Leadership and Dedication

Julie Whitehorse has been integral to the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation since its establishment in 1997. As the first official employee, she worked closely with Sue Ann Thompson, founder and president, to shape the Foundation’s vision and mission. Her contributions played a role in developing the initial strategic plan, laying the groundwork for the organization’s growth and success.

Throughout her 25-year tenure, Julie brought expertise, diplomacy and a collaborative spirit to advance WWHF’s mission to innovate, impact and improve women’s health. She forged critical partnerships with state government, health agencies, local businesses and community leaders, solidifying the Foundation’s reputation as a trusted advocate for women’s health.

Julie retired in February 2022, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, innovation and compassion. Her foundational work continues to influence our impact to this day.

A Warm Welcome to the Board

Executive Director Tommi Thompson shared her excitement about Julie’s return:

“I am thrilled to welcome Julie Whitehorse to our Board of Directors! As the first staff member to join the Foundation alongside our founder, Julie played an instrumental role in shaping WWHF’s growth and success. Her unique perspective, experience and unwavering passion for our mission are invaluable as we continue to make an impact. We are honored to have her leadership and insight on the board.”

Julie herself expressed her enthusiasm for this new chapter:

“I am excited to serve on the Board of Directors after a rewarding 25-year career at WWHF. My experience has not only prepared me for this role but also deepened my commitment to the Foundation’s mission. I look forward to contributing in this new capacity and supporting the impactful work.”

Looking Back and Moving Forward

To celebrate this milestone, we’ll be sharing early photos of Julie during her time as a staff member, alongside a current photo that reflects her enduring connection to WWHF. Her journey is a testament to the power of commitment and vision in creating lasting change.

Welcome back, Julie—your leadership continues to inspire us all!
