Every year, the flu season puts some of our most vulnerable at risk—young children, older adults and those with chronic health conditions.
Here’s the good news: each of us can play a role in keeping our loved ones and neighbors healthy.
Simple actions like getting a flu shot, washing our hands often and staying home when we’re sick go a long way in protecting not just ourselves, but our entire community.
How to Prepare
- Get vaccinated: The flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself from the flu.
(Recommended time is September or October) - Wash your hands frequently: Use soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes: Use a tissue or your elbow.
- Stay home when you’re sick: Avoid spreading the flu to others.
- Get a “flu kit”
(e.g., over-the-counter medications, a thermometer and a hand sanitizer.
