From Frustrated to Supported

From Frustrated to Supported

One Mom’s Well Badger Story

For one Milwaukee County mom, finding mental and behavioral health services for her children had become an exhausting, months-long struggle. Every door she knocked on seemed to close — providers didn’t serve her children’s age group, didn’t accept her insurance or had wait lists stretching into the next year. After nearly a year of searching, she was referred to the Well Badger Resource Center by a WIC office worker who heard her concerns and pointed her in the right direction.

That one phone call changed everything.

Within less than a week of contacting Well Badger, she had the resources and services her family needed. This was something that had felt impossible. She was connected to behavioral and mental health services for her children, and also received tailored resources for other needs.

“It was one of the most refreshing experiences when it came to help for my children,” she shared. “I’d been searching for almost a year for some assistance… and I got the resources I needed and services in less than a week of calling them, which blew me away.”

Her advice to other parents in similar situations? “Reach out to Well Badger Resource Center, get the help you need and stop stressing.”

Stories like hers are exactly why Well Badger exists—to make it easier for Wisconsin families to find the community, health and social services they need and deserve.

If you or someone you know is looking for behavioral or mental health resources for a child, our Youth Wellness Hub is a great place to start. You can also speak directly with one of our Well Badger Information & Referral specialists.
