We want our supporters, partners, and clients to be informed of ongoing changes to WWHF services and programs as a result of Coronavirus (COVID-19). This page will be updated regularly to reflect the measures being recommended and put into action per federal and state health professionals, as well as local and state government. [Last updated: 8/3/2020]
The WWHF continues to offer all group services and programming virtually — and will do so until further notice. We will resume in-person services only when we are confident that we can keep our staff, participants, and volunteers safe. Most of our staff are working remotely, and our office is closed to visitors and volunteers. In the office, we are maintaining many increased safety and disinfecting protocols per the recommendations from state and federal public health officials regarding this highly contagious disease.
Regarding WWHF programming, below is a summary that outlines to date the services we continue to offer to women and families in Wisconsin, as well as events that have been cancelled or rescheduled:
Available Programs & Services (entirely virtual until further notice):
-
The Well Badger Resource Center continues to operate as normal, with no disruptions to usual hours of service or methods of communication. In addition to its regular health information and referral services, Well Badger is also ready to assist with needs and concerns related to COVID-19. Individuals and families in Wisconsin are encouraged to visit Well Badger’s COVID-specific page for assistance and information related to unemployment, food assistance, health insurance coverage, mental health and more. We are here and ready to help!
-
First Breath also continues with minimal disruption to help women in Wisconsin quit or cut back on their tobacco use. First Breath continues to take referrals, and is enrolling new participants in the program. However, instead of in-person visits, First Breath staff is utilizing virtual check-ins via video chat, phone calls and texting for the safety of newborns, pregnant mothers, and postnatal mothers. Additionally, First Breath has launched new communications like a First Breath participant newsletter and added COVID-19 messages to its texting campaigns as a way to share updates and increase a sense of connectedness during these challenging times.
