25 Years…a sweet ending to a new beginning.
It’s with mixed emotions that we share that Julie Whitehorse, Director of Administration, is retiring this month. Julie has been an integral part of WWHF, celebrating 25 years with the foundation! We’re thankful for her leadership and commitment to the women and families of Wisconsin.
We asked Julie to reflect on her time at WWHF – both memories and why she believes in the work the foundation does.
Julie’s Reflection
“I have special memories of traveling around the state of Wisconsin with Sue Ann Thompson in the early years, promoting WWHF. It was fun, productive, and memorable. The partnerships we made early on, with researchers, businesses, local health departments, local clinicians, and most importantly the women in rural and urban communities, were key to our success throughout Wisconsin!
The foundation has flourished because of…
- Sue Ann Thompson, and her vision,
- our ambitious and dedicated staff and
- our emphasis on relationships (through partnerships, collaborations, volunteers and staff).
I’m so proud of how far we’ve come, kept pace, realizing that while our original focus on certain chronic diseases is still important, we have our eyes wide open to new and emerging women’s health issues and challenges – substance use during pregnancy, stress, mammographic quality, connection to services and more). We’ve embraced new ways to deliver our programs.
It never gets old hearing stories about our participants over the years – their challenges, the many obstacles they face, and how WWHF has helped them. At the end of the day, they are the real heroes.”
Not a Goodbye, Just Farewell For Now.
Thank you, Julie, for your leadership and commitment to the foundation’s mission to innovate, impact and improve women’s health in Wisconsin. This isn’t a goodbye, just a farewell for now. Thank you for all you’ve done!
