We Came. We Learned. We CONCORD – 2018 GrapeVine Conference
On June 18th & 19th, the WWHF hosted its 4th Annual GrapeVine Conference at the Sheraton Madison Hotel for volunteers of the GrapeVine program. GrapeVine is a program which trains health professionals (mostly nurses) to lead free health education sessions in their communities. The 2-day GrapeVine Conference is our opportunity to bring together all of our volunteers and train them on new women’s health topics and also equip them with the resources and tools they need to engage their communities. Oh, and we have a little bit of fun too!
For 2018’s conference, we presented updated GrapeVine units on Type 2 Diabetes Prevention and Bone Health, and brand new units related to Prescription Opioid Misuse Prevention and Creating Smoke-Free Spaces. Attendees also had the opportunity to enjoy related exhibits, breakout sessions, and skill-building workshops led by local and statewide experts. Some highlights included a panel on “Chronic Disease: We’re More Alike than We are Different,” a breakout on “Mental Health Implications of Technology,” and a Naloxone training.

In total, we were joined by over 60 of our GrapeVine volunteers at the conference, and nearly 20 speakers! We thank everyone who made the event possible, especially our speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors.
