Continuing with the topic of stressed moms, Episode 2 of The MotherPod offers relaxation tips. Featured guest is Meg Sirchio, owner of Perennial yoga studio in Madison. She shares information on how yoga can be a powerful stress reliever.
Meg is familiar with the challenges that come from being a busy mom. She herself was a single parent to two boys while also trying to balance a career in human services. She understands the wear and tear of modern-day life, admitting that before she discovered yoga, she was just doing what she needed to do as a parent, but wasn’t really enjoying it. After starting yoga, she immediately noticed the difference in how she showed up as a parent- and her sons noticed too! That’s what kept her going back, and she encourages other moms to discover that change for themselves.
You may wonder how yoga can have such an impact. Meg shares her thoughts on the stress-relieving power of yoga:
-
It helps you to “live more fully in the present moment.” Too often we get caught up in the past or worry about the future.
-
It won’t change the circumstances/challenges of your life, but it does help positively change how you react.
-
Helps you slow down to respond more mindfully to your child(ren) and other people.
-
Encourages you to meditate on what’s really important. You can let go and create more space and efficiency in the day.
-
A complete body-mind experience that can improve your mood, sleep, and relationships.
