Support – Not Blame

Hello my name is Alexis. I was introduced to First Breath through Badgercare.

The reason that I joined this program is because I was addicted to vaping nicotine and pregnant at that time. I tried different methods of quitting but nothing worked permanently. At one point, I even stopped vaping nicotine for a month but then started smoking cigarettes to keep the cravings at bay (now I can’t even stand the smell of cigarettes). In my day to day life, I am surrounded by smokers; my husband, my father, my mother, and my in laws.

While in this program, I was introduced to my smoking coach Greer. Greer was most supportive in my endeavor to quit smoking and what helped the most was that she seemed as motivated to keep me smoke free as I was. The First Breath program supported me in being smoke free by not blaming me when I fell short of my goals but by encouraging me to pick up where I left off. They did this by sending me pamphlets with helpful information, facts about the dangers of smoking, and mechanisms to help me stay quit.

Currently, I am through with the program and I am still smoke free thanks to First Breath and my amazing smoking coach Greer. I am forever indebted to the First Breath program.
